8.1 Cardinal Numbers

The cardinal numbers are the whole numbers of quantity: "one", "two", "three", etc. A cardinal number is also listed and mainly used in its o-form, as a noun-modifier (e-forms exist but are rarely used). The first 10 cardinal numbers are:

1 uno
2 duo
3 trio
4 tetro
5 pento
6 hekso
7 hepto
8 okto
9 neo
10 deko

8.2 Logical Quantifiers

Almost the same forms are also used as pronouns when their referents are either inanimate or generic:

8.3 Other Quantifiers

In an indefinite noun phrase, the word placed before the noun is an indefinite article, a cardinal or fractional number, or other quantifier (excluding the universal quantifier).

ningo kano   "no dogs" (nullar quantifier)

yo vakko   "cow or cattle" (indefinite article)

duo gatto   "two cats" (cardinal number)

koplo cikko   "two or three children" (other quantifier)

bonco damo   "several/many women" (other quantifier)

ka mutco elefanto   "how many elephants?" (question)

Now, what if a quantified phrase is to be taken as definite? In this case, the quantifier is placed after the noun:

viro tetro   "the four men" (cardinal number)
