Jul17 Relative Clauses

In Jul17, relative clauses are external, preceding their heads, are terminated by the conjunction ?? (Rel), and contain an occurrence of the relative pronoun hō (RPA) or hā (RPI). The mode suffix on the main verb of the relative clause can be any of the following: Fac, Ctf, Jus, Opt, or Sub.

hōdō cattusenguetoqua tau sumaguenātoc.
hō- dō-0-0 cattu- sengue-0-to-qua tau suma- guen-ā-to-c
RPA- do-Prs-Sec cat- find-Inv-Prf-Ctf Rel man- see-Inv-Prf-Fac
"I saw the man who would've found the cat."

Attributive Construction

A simple attributive is normally used instead of a relative clause when all of the following are true:

can be replaced by:

cattu- sengue-0-to-w suma- guen-ā-to-c
cat- find-Inv-Prf-Att man- see-Inv-Prf-Fac
