Feb07 Phonology and Orthography


Feb07 uses the latin alphabet, more or less. the letters used are:

a b c č d e f g h i j k l m n o p r s š t u v x z ž

The letter c may be used for s after l, n, or t; otherwise it's not used except in foreign names.

The 1st table show the vowel phones that can appear along with the corresponding letter. The 2nd table shows the consonants. Letters marked with an asterisk * appear in more than one place in the tables.

The diphthongs are ai [ai] and au [au]. All other vowel sequences,if any, are disyllabic.

Any single consonant may appear as an onset. The onset clusters are ....

Any single consonant except b, d, g, ž, and h may occur in coda position. The coda clusters are ....

Medial clusters (coda + onset) may occur. Nasal codas assimilate to the POA of the following stop, nasal, or approximant. The consonants [p], [t], [k], [f], [s], [ʃ], [χ], [m], [n], [r], and [l] can be geminate (coda + onset).



Syllables can be light (1 mora), heavy (2 moras), or extraheavy (3 moras).
