A phrase consists of at minimum a nominal format word, which may be preceded by a determiner function word and any number of attributive or appositive format words. Instead of a determiner, the phrase may be preceded by a genitive case phrase. Cases are marked by certain function words following the phrase.
The same attributive format words modify both animate and inanimate nouns.
A clause consists of at minimum a finite, imperative, or copular format word acting as head of the clause. That word may be preceded by argument phrases, oblique phrases, and adverbs. An argument phrase corresponds to a 3rd person head inflection (3) if animate and to an unspecified one (U) if inanimate.
Absolutive, instrumental, and locative case phrases correspond to the core arguments.
