The traditional writing system uses an phonemic abugida of 20 consonant letters, a null consonant, and 5 vowel marks. These are shown in the image to the right; the labels are the transliteration. The mark for U is not written after F, H, SH, KH, S, R, L when deletable. There are no accent marks.
