1.1.1 Keyboard Mapping Table

This has been copied from the C7 pages. This keyboard assumes that the Jan22C9 font is simply mapped onto the ASCII alphabetic values. The 1st symbol on each key is for the shift-key value.

1.2 Morpheme Formation

1.2.1 Glyph Classes

There are 92 glyphs, which may be combined to form word-components. The glyph classes are Numeric = decimal digits, Content = lower case alphabetic, Utility = upper case alphabetic, Space = space character (also tab, new line etc.), and Other = everything else.

1.2.2 Word Classification

The major word classes are numbers, lexicals, and particles. The numbers are the cardinals and the ordinals. The lexicals are the lexical functions, pronouns, and content roots. The particles include the determiners as well as several other kinds.

1.2.3 Cardinal Numbers

Cardinal numbers are made up of non-empty numeric strings, with the most significant digit first. A period . '.' is used to mark the decimal point.

Numbers are signed by appending + '+' for positive numbers and ^ '^' for negative numbers.

1.2.4 Ordinal Numbers

An ordinal number is formed by appending o 'o' to a natural number. A reverse ordinal is formed by appending h 'h' instead. Examples: 3o "third" and 2h "next-to-last".

1.2.5 Quoted Literals

A literal begins with an apostrophe glyph ' followed by any number of glyphs and ends with another apostrophe glyph '. But note that any apostrophe glyph appearing within the literal must be doubled: ''.

1.2.6 Lexicals

A lexical function or pronoun consists of a single content glyph while a content root consists of a string of at least two content glyphs. A content stem is either a single content root or multiple content roots separated by periods . '.'. Pronouns are denoted by a subset of the single content glyphs. Other single content glyphs denote lexical functions, which are separated from preceding content stems by periods; note that no periods are used following cardinal numbers and literals.

1.2.7 Utility Glyphs

A utility glyph preceded by * '*' specifies a clause conjunction; otherwise, it denotes a role, case, or phrase conjunction.

1.2.8 Spaces

Space characters are used to keep adjacent lexicals, numbers, and literals distinct.

1.2.9 Others

Each remaining function symbol consists of a single Other Glyph.
